The State’s Finance and Food Supplies Minister, Dr Rameshwar Oraon on Monday said that the biggest concern of the farmers is still about the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for the crop, the farmers should get a guarantee for MSP. He said that it is necessary to make a law to guarantee the minimum support price to the farmers.
Talking to reporters at Congress Bhavan in the State Capital Oraon welcomed the withdrawal of three new agricultural laws in the Parliament and said that the concern of the farmers is still not over. He added it is necessary to make a law to guarantee the minimum support price to the farmers. “Everyone is aware of the market situation in the Country. Due to rising inflation in the Country, the crop cost is increasing continuously but the profit of the farmers is stable. In such a situation, it is necessary to give legal form to MSP so that the income of the farmers could increase,” he said.
Oraon said that under the guidance of All India Congress Committee President Sonia Gandhi and senior leader Rahul Gandhi as the state Congress president, he launched a massive movement against the three new agricultural laws across the State. “Tractor rallies were held at many places. Various programs were organized. Ultimately the farmers won. For this he congratulates the farmers. The farmers once again taught the Country that the people are paramount and they cannot be ignored. Democracy has indeed won today. In 70 years, it has been proved how far the roots of democracy have reached in the Country,” he added.
The State Congress leader Alok Dubey, who was present on the occasion, said that the black laws of agriculture are definitely coming back, but the demands of the farmers' organizations to implement the Minimum Support Price should be accepted. “Whatever be the majority, the Government working against the people has to face it. The Congress stood with the farmers in protest against the agriculture law. In the future also, the party will stand with him for the demand of giving minimum support price,” he added.
