The Vigilance police on Wednesday caught Ajit Kumar Mohapatra, Superintendent of Excise of Deogarh district, red-handed while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 1.5 lakh from a liquor vendor.
As per the complainant, Mohapatra was taking the bribe through an Assistant Sub-Inspector of Excise, Mathura Mohan Pradhan.
Later, raids had been conducted on residences of Mohapatra in Deogarh and Brahamapur to ascertain the extent of his Disproportionate Assets. Further investigation is underway, as far as this particular case is concerned.
