Brahmapur-based endocrinologist and diabetes and thyroid super specialist Dr Sunil Kumar Kota has been awarded the FACE Award by the USA. Dr Kota was one among a few recipients of this rare honour to be felicitated in an online convocation held on Saturday.
Dr Kota is the second doctor from Odisha and the first from south Odisha to be bestowed with this award. Based on his 82 scientific peer-reviewed articles (Diabetes-56, Thyroid-22 and other hormonal problems-14); 85 conference abstract submissions, authorship of 18 book chapters, 10 national awards, 15 international scientific grants and his numerous scientific activities aimed at increasing awareness in the society about hormonal problems (diabetes, thyroid, etc.), Dr Kota was selected for this prestigious fellowship.
The American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) is an international organisation of high repute having more than 25,000 specialist doctors in hormonal diseases, including diabetes and thyroid disorders as its members. During its annual conference held every year in America, where they select physicians with contributions to science and society in the field of endocrinology are felicitated with the FACE (Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology) Award by the American College of Endocrinology (ACE).
This year, 51 doctors across the globe were selected for the award. Wishes poured in from several sections of the society and doctors from across India and Odisha for this marvellous achievement of Dr Kota. Expressing utmost satisfaction with this academic recognition, Dr Kota was confident to state that this would inspire him further to serve the causes of both science and society.
