In a bid to break the chain of coronavirus, the Government has been adopting an easy method of clamping lockdowns and shutdowns, some activists in Dhenkanal alleged.
While some shops are allowed to open and make business within the stipulated period, some are not. If any shop keeper is found flouting the rule, penalty is imposed soon. Even at times, the shopkeeper is penalised for fault of customers. For rush in shop or unruly customers not abiding by Covid rules, the shop is taken into task.
The business man whether big or small is earning for his family. Many youths have opened shops after failing to get a Government job. However, these days they are being constantly harassed. On the contrary, the migrant workers and others who act as super spreaders are left scot-free.
An activist of voluntary organisation ANWESHAN contended that Covid affected people are not strictly following the quarantine rules; nor is the municipal administration properly monitoring the situation door to door. The fact is these people are acting as super spreaders, he told. ANWESHAN activists have urged Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik that instead of continuing shutdowns and lockdown further, the Government should put those violating Covid rules habitually in institutional quarantine centres at their own expenses.
