After Covid-19 positive patients were found in Haripurkalan village of Rishikesh, the Dehradun district administration declared another containment zone there under the Uttarakhand Epidemic Disease COVID-19 Regulation 2020 and the Disaster Management Act 2005. On Tuesday, the administration declared the Geeta Kutir/Geeta Sanskrit Mahavidhyalay and the area nearby in Rishikesh as a containment zone in which all the commercial establishments that include banks, shops and offices would remain closed till the further orders of the administration. As per the directions of the district administration, Ashish Kumar Srivastava, all the departments concerned including the district supply office, dairy department and the Municipal Corporation of Rishikesh (MCR) will provide all the required items and services to the locals during this period. He also directed the chief medical officer (CMO) to conduct community surveillance in the area as per the guidelines. DM said that though the police department would ensure safety in the containment zone, locals can call to police at the toll free number 112 during any emergencies.
He further directed that only one family member is allowed to make purchases for products of daily use from the mobile shops of the district administration near the containment zone area. According to him, anyone found to be violating the rules would face legal charges under various relevant acts of the State as well as the Central Government.
