The West Bengal Government has approved a Students Credit Card (SCC) scheme which the Trinamool Congress had promised in it election manifesto. With the help of SCC, students will be able to avail loan upto Rs 10 lakh, for higher studies, where the State Government will be the guarantor.
WB CM Mamata Banerjee had said that her Cabinet had given the green signal to the SCC scheme. Any student living in West Bengal for last ten years will be eligible to avail this loan. The upper age limit is 40 to avail the loan. Henceforth, the parents need not be worried for higher education of their children, Banerjee told. The loan will be given for under graduation, post graduation, doctorate and post doctorate courses in India and abroad. The scheme will be launched from June 30. Meanwhile, national convenor of Netaji Subhas Birth Soil Yatra Debiprasad Prusti has welcomed the decision of Mamata Banerjee. Other States should follow suit, he opined.
