Every girl is a story in herself and so is Kshipra Dubey, who hails from Jamshedpur. She is a dentist by profession but hung up her boots on her medical career, and preferred to follow her aspiration of becoming a fashion model. The journey to find a career for her in tinsel town has not been easy, but Kshipra never gave up.
Today she is the lead face of television commercials for Samsung, Mentos, Exide, Philips, Pazheri gold and diamonds, Lotus Organics, Airtel, and Yoga Bars.
Born and brought up in Jamshedpur, she did her schooling from Carmel Junior College, Sonari and pursued dentistry from Bharati Vidyapeeth Dental College, Pune.
“I started walking the ramp at an early age of 14, thanks to my then Economics teacher Sushmita Sarkar who saw some potential in me even though my auditions didn’t go very well. I moved to Pune for my bachelors’ degree, I pursued bachelor in Dental Surgery from Bharati Vidyapeeth, that is where I started working initially for some extra bucks. I had realised my love for the camera by the end of my course and thereafter shifted to Delhi. I am a part of a theatre group here in Delhi which is led by Sunder Lal Chabra, who is a National School of Drama alumni and an excellent mentor,” said Shipra, speaking from New Delhi.
Over the years, she did successful fashion campaigns and ramps for designers ‘Dolly J’, Nivedita Saboo, Payal Singhal, Ashok Maanay. Campaigns for brands like Moov, Vivo, Techno, V Mart, paytm, US Cranberries.
Talking about her experiences she said: “ I am really grateful for all that has come my way. So far I have been privileged to have worked with some marvelous designers and production houses and to see them working with such precision is all the more inspiring and makes me want to work harder. At the moment I am working on ramping up my craft and hoping for the best”.
She further added: “ Working on the set,and acting in front of the camera are all amazing and awesome experiences, but so are classes and headshot and survival jobs and auditions and meetings. When you get an audition, don’t look past the audition to the actual job or let nerves take over, enjoy the process. Be excited that someone has invited you. It may not be on a film set or in front of millions of people, but you get the chance to do the one thing you want to do more than anything else”.
Coming from an academically inclined family, her father is zonal manager at Bank of India and mother is in school administration. Both of them have always encouraged constructive growth of personality and have been a pillar of support at every time.
She further added that there is a host of hidden talent among girls of small towns but the need is that they must get the right platform to display her talent. “I think there is something in the soil of our city that talent is nurtured to achieve greater heights,” signed off Kshipra.
