A ‘Krushak Jan Satyagraha’ was held at MG Marg in Bhubaneswar on Saturday on occasion of the Martyrs’ Day of Mahatma Gandhi demanding repeal of the three farm laws and supporting the farmers’ agitation in New Delhi being held under the banner of the All India Kishan Sangarh Samanwaya Samiti.
The Central Government, instead of withdrawing the farm laws, is trying to defame the peaceful agitation of the farmers by false and sponsored propaganda, said Samiti Odisha chapter leaders.
They alleged that the NDA Government is using the police and goons to sabotage the farmers’ agitation.
They demanded that the laws should be scrapped in the current session of Parliament. Till then the farmers would follow the path of Father of the Nation and continue to agitate peacefully.
Farmer leaders Suresh Panigrahi, Jagannath Mishra, Khirod Singh Deo, Krsushnacahran Rout, Yudhistira Mohapatra, Radhakanta Sethi, Jyotiranjan Mohapatra, Nishikanta Mohapatra and others were present.
Meanwhile, Odisha farmers led by Navnirman Krushak Sangathan (NKS) national convenor Akshay Kumar, who had gone to New Delhi, reached the city and went on a hunger strike at the Lower PMG here against the farm laws and the Central Government.
They alleged that efforts are being made to sabotage their agitation by using force. Among others, NKS State convenor Seshadev Nanda, Nimai Ray, Sangram Kishore, Subhendu Mallick and others were present.
