Decline: 609 new Covid-19 cases in State

The State on Monday reported 609 new Covid-19 positive cases, with which the total tally went up to 10,07,112.Notably, the State had recorded 849 cases on Sunday.Out of the new cases, 119 children in the age group of 0 and 18 years tested positive.

A total of 64,991 samples were tested in the last 24 hours and the test positivity rate (TPR) was 0.93 per cent. The active cases in the State stood at 7,528.Out of the new cases, 354 were from quarantine and 255 local contacts.

Khordha district reported the day's highest 209 cases followed by Cuttack with 71, Jajpur 36, Mayurbhanj 26, Dhenkanal 23, Baleswar 21, Jagatsinghpur 20, Puri 20, Kendrapada 19, Angul 18, Sambalpur 16, Nayagarh 11, Deogarh 10, Bhadrak and Boudh nine each, Sundargarh eight, Ganjam six, Kandhamal and Rayagada five each, Bargarh four, Koraput and Jharsuguda three each, Subarnapur two, Malkangiri and Gajapati one each.

Besides, 48 cases were detected from the State Pool.Another 67 patients succumbed to the disease, mounting the total death toll to 7,901, the Health and Family Welfare Department said.

The maximum 20 deaths were reported from Cuttack district followed by 10 from Angul, nine from Jagatsinghpur, six from Khordha, three each from Keonjhar, Kendrapada and Mayurbhanj, two each from Baleswar, Bhadrak, Puri, and one each from Kalahandi and Subarnapur. However, another 843 patients recovered on the day, increasing the total recoveries to 9,92,473 in the State.
