undreds of Congress workers staged a rail roko here on Wednesday demanding running of a passenger train in the Paradep-Haridaspur line.
Led by senior Congress leader Ganeswar Behera, they demonstrated at Gopa Square on Paradeep-Haridaspur railway line for six hours shouting slogans against the Central Government for its indifference towards the just demand of people of Kendrapada.
Behera alleged that though goods train service on the line has started since August 2020, the Railway Ministry is dillydallying to run a passenger train. It was hoped that after taking over of the Ministry, Ashwini Vaishnaw would take the necessary step but in vein. District Congress Committee president Anshuman Mohanty said that though he had met and apprised the Railway General Manager and brought to his notice that all the nine railway stations along the line are completed, quit unfortunately no steps are taken yet.
