An inoculation drive for children in the age group of 15 to 18 years would be completed within a month, said Health Director Bijay Panigrahi on Thursday. .
A total of 23.65 lakh children are eligible for vaccination in this phase. While registration would start from January 1, 2022, administration of vaccines would commence from January 3, said he.
Around 14 lakh doses of Covaxin are currently available in the State for the purpose. The district administrations have been directed to open vaccination centres as per requirement. If necessary, arrangements for vaccination centres would be made in schools, Panigrahi said.
Vaccine would be administered to children at the centres between 8 am and 1 pm. The people from other categories would be jabbed in the evening hours. The Health Department has advised that parents and guardians of the children should come to the vaccination centres with them, he said.
Panigrahi further said that around 10.47 lakh persons above 60 years of age with co-morbidities are eligible to receive the booster dose of the vaccine. Similarly, the precaution dose would be administered to around 7 lakh frontline workers in the State, he added.
