The Odisha Crime Branch (CB), which is investigating the spy racket involving the DRDO’s Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur in Baleswar district, would seek help of the Interpol to trace the woman handler who was in contact with the five arrested DRDO staffs to obtain vital information regarding the Defence installation.
“We will seek assistance of Central agencies and contact with Interpol to track down woman handler, to whom five accused DRDO staffs were passing information after being honey-trapped,” said CB ADG Sanjeev Panda on Wednesday. Panda said that photograph of woman operative, who is suspected to be mastermind of case, has been obtained along with footage of her video calls with accused. He further said that remand of five arrested accused would be further sought to subject them to through grilling in connection with case after verification of the data. The Crime Branch had earlier revealed that phone number used by mysterious woman operative was a virtual number from United Kingdom which was rerouted through several IP addresses to conceal its original location.
The investigating agency has also ascertained that elusive female operative managed to hack mobile phone of one of arrested accused for around eight months and constantly monitoring his activities. She managed to obtain sensitive information about the DRDO in the process.
