Hry Cong questions price of medical kit

Chandigarh: President, Haryana Congress Kumari Selja on Sunday said on May 8, the State Government had announced that a medical kit worth Rs 5,000 would be given free of cost to the Corona-infected patients, who are undergoing treatment in home isolation. Questioning the government, she said the Sirsa Administration is distributing medical kits, which are priced at Rs 815. Even in this pandemic, the Haryana government is resorting to lies and this announcement regarding the medical kit seems dubious, she alleged. She said if there is nothing wrong in the intention of the government, it should share with the public the full details and the account of the medical kit.

 

Haryana DGP expresses grief over demise of ESI

Chandigarh: Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) Manoj Yadava has expressed grief over the demise of ESI Gurmail Singh, who breathed his last at a private hospital in Mohali, Punjab after battling Covid-19. He was posted at City Police Station, Narwana. Yadava described this as a major loss to the Police Department and added that ESI Gurmail was an honest, hard-working, and dedicated police officer who performed his duties with utmost sincerity and professional commitment. Praying for peace to the departed soul, he along with the entire Police Department empathized with the bereaved family and wished them strength to bear this irreparable loss.

 

SCAI calls for support from Chd Admn

Chandigarh: Shopping Centres Association of India (SCAI) has urged the Chandigarh Administration for their immediate intervention to allow malls to restart operations as per regular operational hours in a controlled and safe manner. In its representation to VP Singh Badnore, UT Administrator, the industry body highlighted that the COVID-19 pandemic has forced the union territory to take extreme measures like lockdown which has adversely impacted businesses and livelihoods of thousands of workers in the city. SCAI also addressed the concern that almost 80 percent employees working in Malls, Shops, Restaurants and Service sectors are from economically weaker sections and get directly impacted with such disruption in businesses.

 

Hry STF seizes 8.5 kg of opium, five held

Chandigarh: A Special Task Force (STF) of Haryana Police has seized 8.5 kg of opium from Kaithal and Kurukshetra districts and arrested five accused on the charges of drug trafficking. A spokesperson said in the first case, STF team after getting a tip-off recovered 3.5 kg of opium from the possession of three accused near Cheeka in Kaithal. Arrested accused were identified as Ajay Ram, a native of Jharkhand, Harbans Singh and Ramjeet Singh, both residents of Punjab. In the second case, STF had received information that a truck going from Delhi towards Chandigarh could have large quantities of opium. Based on this, police intercepted the vehicle and recovered 5 kg of opium from two accused near Shahabad in Kurukshetra. The arrested accused were identified as Irshad and Mohammad, both natives of Jharkhand. Cases have been registered against the accused under relevant sections of NDPS Act.

 

54 volunteered to donate blood at a camp

Chandigarh: Thalassaemic Charitable Trust (Regd.), Chandigarh organised its 218th blood donation where 54 units of blood were collected from volunteers. This was the 34th blood donation camp by the Trust during COVID19 lockdown since June 6, 2020 to help Blood Bank of PGIMER to provide blood to Thalassaemics and other serious patients requiring blood support. More than 3430 units of blood were collected in these blood donation camps.

 

100 Nirankari devotees donated blood

Zirakpur: Sant Nirankari Mission organized its 11th Blood Donation Camp at Sant Nirankari Satsang Bhawan, Zirakpur wherein 100 devotees, including eight women, donated blood. Senior Congress leader Deepinder Singh Dhillon (area in-charge Derabassi), Zirakpur MC president Udai Bir Singh, councilor Navtej Singh Navi, among others came to offer their blessings to the blood donors. Sant Nirankari Satsang Bhawan, Zirakpur, head Master Jaswant Singh (Mukhi) said that the Mission is contributing for the betterment of humanity by running blood donation camps in addition to COVID treatment.
