In a move to augment health facilities during ongoing pandemic Covid-19, a seven-bed ICU facility is coming up at the Sadar Hospital at Khasmahal in Parsudih locality of the city soon.
The construction of the ICU unit is almost complete and necessary medical equipment installed. According to information, the new facility will start functioning once Chief Minister, Hemant Soren inaugurates the facility.
At present, due to absence of the ICU facility, the serious patients are referred to either Tata Main Hospital or MGM Medical College Hospital.
Revealing more about the ICU unit at the Sadar Hospital, district civil surgeon, AK Lal said that the facility is aimed for the treatment of general patients, but if required it can also be extended for the treatment of the Covid patients.
" It is one of the most advanced facilities being added at the hospital. The ICU facility has been set up at the Sadar Hospital keeping in view of the serious patients hailing from the eastern fringe of the city. Though it is meant for general patients, at the prevailing situation we may provide the facility for the Covid patients, " said the civil surgeon.
Lal informed that beside the ICU facility, they are also setting up for carrying out dialysis at the Sadar Hospital. He pointed out work for the dialysis unit is going on fast and is likely to be completed by the end of the June.
The 100-bedded Sadar Hospital provides facilities for a large number of patients, including the accident victims hailing from the densely-populated Golpahari area, Parsudih, Sundarnagar, Bagbera and Govindpur. People having medical emergencies from far off Hata and Haldipokhar areas of the district also get admitted there.
Significantly, the Sadar Hospital has been converted into a Covid hospital and a large number of patients coming from the eastern fringe area of the city were treated during the pandemic. While isolation wards have been set up in the district hospitals in the 19 districts, Jamshedpur Sadar Hospital also has a four-bed isolation ward
