Enforcement squads of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Tuesday sealed five liquor shops in the city for violating Covid-19 guidelines.
The liquor shops were located at Rasulgarh, Damana, Jayadev Vihar and Acharya Vihar. On Sunday, one liquor shop had been sealed at Ashok Nagar for flouting the restrictions. Several mobile phone shops at Bapuji Nagar were also sealed and fines were collected from their owners. Similarly, 18 shops dealing with automobile spare parts, auto repairing garages, tea and liquor shops located along Cuttack-Puri Road were sealed and penalised during the raids.
Besides, a garment shop at Kalpana Square was shut down and imposed a hefty fine of Rs 75,000 for carrying out business through backdoor. The customers present were also fined Rs 25,000.
