Several educational institutions in the State are now reporting increasing Covid-19 cases. A private college in Bhawanipatna was the latest to report 32 positive cases on Monday.
Kalahandi Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) said the students, who have tested positive for Covid-19, were staying in the college hostel. “From antigen tests, 32 students have tested positive for Covid-19. Initially, 12 of them had tested positive for the virus,” the CDMO added. Following the detection of the cases, the college was declared as a containment zone. Besides, six more students of National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela and an employee of the institute have tested positive for the virus on the day. With this, the number of positive cases in the educational institution mounted to 14.The infected students have been placed under isolation and are undergoing treatment.
Also 10 students of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar have also tested positive for the virus. “All have come from outside the State. They have tested positive for the virus during contact tracing. All have been put under quarantine,” Khordha Collector Sanat Kumar Mohanty said.
Similarly, over 20 students have tested positive for at the Allen Institute following which the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) sealed the campus on Monday.
