The Chhattisgarh government is not considering any proposal to privatize power companies, Ankit Anand, Chairman of the Chhattisgarh State Power Companies, said here on Saturday.
“All the work related to power system of Chhattisgarh is executed by Chhattisgarh power companies. These are committed to protecting the interests of consumers," Anand told the media.
He said the state's power generation, transmission and distribution have won accolades at the national level for efficiency. "The Chhattisgarh government is not considering any proposal to privatize these companies,” he said.
He termed as "misleading" news that meter reading, billing and revenue collection would be handed over to private entities in Baloda Bazaar district.
The transmission, maintenance, billing and revenue collection are done by power companies, he said.
According to Anand, the power companies are serving more than 56 lakh power consumers in Chhattisgarh.
