Wednesday, 30 June 2021 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

As the Central Government has stopped paying Dearness Allowance (DA) to its employees and pensioners on the pretext of Covid pandemic, the economy of the country is shattered. During the time of rising prices of essential commodities, it could have helped the economy, said a statement from the Congress. Nearly four crore Government employees and pensioners have been deprived of DA, which could have helped economy to boost, it said. Party leader and former Finance Minister Panchanan Kanungo said it is not corona pandemic that has deflected the economy but Government’s mismanagement has ruined economy and snatched livelihoods of people.Kanungo said Modi Government has done a great mistake for not paying Rs 7,500 to families whose livelihoods are affected. The Government is busy benefiting corporate houses by providing them tax soaps and fiscal stimulus, said Kanungo.
