Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) President Sharad Pawar who has been unwell since Sunday, was rushed to the Breach Candy Hospital here Tuesday, after he developed fresh abdominal pains.
Eighty-year-old Pawar, who was in the normal course was to be admitted to the hospital on Wednesday for an endoscopy and surgery for removal of gallbladder stones, was taken to the Breach Candy Hospital after he complained of pain in the abdomen.
“In the normal course, Pawarsaheb was to be admitted to the Breach Candy Hospital tomorrow, for an endoscopy and surgery. But, after he developed pain in the abdomen, he was taken to the Breach Candy Hospital today,” NCP’s chief spokesperson Nawab Malik said.
“After his treatment and further examination, the doctors attending on him at the hospital will take a call on his surgery,” Malik said.
Earlier, Pawar was on a blood thinner medication. The doctors advised him to stop the medication, pending his surgery.
Meanwhile, several prominent personalities including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar and others have enquired about Pawar’s health and wished him a speedy recovery.
