Ailing Buddha’s audio message to voters after six years

Wednesday, 31 March 2021 | PNS | Kolkata

For the first time in more than six years former Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on Tuesday addressed the public releasing an audio tape and asking the people to back the Left-democratic-secular forces and defeat the conspirators like TMC and BJP who had come to ruin Bengal.

Coming down heavily on the two parties ailing Bhattacharjee who is almost bed-ridden for years said only the Left-Congress-ISF alliance could pull Bengal out of the present anarchy that the State was win. Earlier he had in a written statement said how his version --- of a deep-rooted conspiracy --- stood vindicated more than 14 years after the Nandigram police firing that killed 14 people.

This, after Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee from a rally at Nandigram on Sunday said that Suvendu Adhikari and his father and MP Sisir Adhikari were behind the Nandigram police firing.

“These father and son duo had conspired to let in police and armed men dressed in police fatigue to enter Nandigram and fire at the villagers,” (that finally brought the downfall of the Left Government), Banerjee said.

In fact the CBI too had given the Bhattacharjee Government a clean chit in the matter.

Saying that a “silence of a funeral ground” prevailed in Singur and Nandigram, he alleged that under the present dispensation, the state had gone backwards in agriculture, while no industry was set up in the past 10 year.

The conspirators who planned the deceitful game then (2007 Nandigram firing) that period are now divided in two groups and are slinging mud at each other,” Bhattacharjee said. Alleging that “while youth have no employment, corruption, extortion and syndicate-raj have made popular life miserable,” Bhattacharjee said, women too were not safe during this period.
