Old age homes and orphanages have suffered a lot due to the pandemic. The joy from their lives has been drowned by despair in the wake of the worsening pandemic. As Manav Sthali has always been known for their spirit of working for social causes staunchly and wholeheartedly, advancing their constant endeavors, Manav Sthalians, under the able guidance of Director Mamta V Bhatnagar, have added another feather to their cap by initiating ‘The Magical Treasure of Smiles’ Campaign under Manav Suraksha.
This campaign aims at returning those forgotten smiles at old age homes and orphanages by organising fun-filled activities and games including quizzes, tambola, antakshari and many more. The idea of this event was proposed by Principal Dipti A Bhatnagar.
On June 4, 2021, a team of selected MSS students conducted their first meeting over Zoom with Guru Nanak Sukh Shaala Old Age Home, Rajinder Nagar, New Delhi.
They designed the complete workflow and the programme schedule. Moving further, students were divided into teams according to specific activities that were to be conducted. Everyone began working with full zest and mapped out the activities efficiently.
On June 12, 2021, the second session of the event began on the same notes. The programme started with an enthusiastic round of tambola where the rules were explained with the assistance of a presentation.
The enthusiasm on the smiling faces of the elderly was so contagious that it created an ecstatic environment for those attending the event. Their eagerness to get into the act was unmatched.
