With 1,026 fresh Covid cases, Himachal reports highest single day jump

Himachal Pradesh on Sunday reported the highest ever 1026 fresh Covid cases in a single day and 12 fatalities.

 “The death toll reached 625 while the total infections crossed 40000-mark in the state,” stated Himachal’s evening health bulletin.In the last 24 hours, three deaths each were reported in Kullu and Mandi, two each in Kangra and Shimla and one each in Chamba and Hamirpur, the bulletin stated.While the total tally was recorded at 40003, there were 8644 active cases in the state till the evening. Of the 1026 fresh cases, a maximum of 398 were reported in Shimla, 161 in Mandi and 120 in Kullu.

As per the bulletin, Shimla has the highest number of active cases in the state at 2205 followed by 1514 in Mandi and 1105 in Kullu.So far, 30693people have recovered from the virus in the state. 940 people have recovered in the last 24 hours, it said.

So far, 5.25 lakh COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the state, the bulletin added.Govt to conduct imp functions virtuallyTo stem the spread of COVID-19, the State Government has decided to conduct important functions virtually.

The need to communicate with patients affected with COVID-19 and their families is important, thus the MLAs have been urged to communicate with such patients and their families and to provide every possible assistance to them. NGOs would also be roped in the initiative, said a spokesman of Himachal Government.

He said that the Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur is regularly monitoring the COVID-19 situation at personal level and taking timely decisions as per requirement, in order to contain the spread of the virus.The State Government has decided to conduct important functions virtually, he said.He further said that the responsibility of various districts have been given to the Ministers.As per the decision of the State Government, participation of people in any kind of social gathering has been restricted to maximum 50 persons.
