Even as key politicians one after another is reporting covid-19 infection, Madhya Pradesh Government on Thursday announced that everyone, may be he is a minister, MP or MLA or anyone else, is required to wear mask or will be subjected to penalties.
Right from Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, several of his ministers, MPs, MLAs and senior bureaucrats have reported covid19 infections in the recent past. Office-bearers from RSS and Bharatiya Janata Party including state head VD Sharma and org general secretary Suhas Bhagat too have found themselves in the list of infected persons, of late.
“There won’t be any visit from MP or MLA in districts till August 14, there won’t be no meeting which requires a mic, all rallies and meetings are banned till Aug 14 and if required virtual meetings could be carried out but not more than five persons could gather at a single place,” Home minister Narottam Mishra wearing mask told media persons on Thursday.
Mask or cotton towel is mandatory for everyone and those found in violation would be punished with fine and ministers, MPs and MLAs won’t be exception in this regard, affirmed the Home minister adding everyone venturing into markets and public places is required to put on masks.
Not to mention that this rule also applies on the bureaucrats, said Dr Mishra informing the media that rapid antigen tests have started in the state from Thursday.
As Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has specified, districts will be placed under lockdown only when there is no alternative measure is left to rein in covid19, claimed the minister. All these decisions were taken in a review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan through video conferencing.
Chouhan warned public representatives against violation of safety norms cautioning them this could attract fine and registration of cases as well. He lauded Morena and Gwalior administration for bringing down rate of covid 19 infections.
Notably, the Shivraj government has resorted to stringent measure as fresh covid19 cases continue to spiral in the state especially in Bhopal which has emerged as the hotbed in the last few weeks.
On Thursday, the city reported 233 cases of infection and overall cases crossed the 6,000 mark.
The State reported 834 fresh cases of infections even as the state inched closer to 31,000 cases.
