While Punjab Government decided to extend the curfew by two more weeks on Wednesday, the Chandigarh Administration has decided to take a decision in this regard after consulting all stakeholders and to follow the guidelines of Government of India on May 3.
Curfew was imposed in Chandigarh on March 24 amid Coronavirus pandemic.
During his daily review meeting on Wednesday, Punjab Governor and UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore said though Punjab Government has extended the curfew by two weeks, the Administration will take final decision in this regard on May 3.
The Administrator expressed serious concern about the continuously rising cases of coronavirus infected persons. He directed that intensive screening and testing should be done in affected pockets like Bapu Dham Colony, Sector 30-B and Kachi Colony.
He also desired that all resources and manpower should be concentrated on this and strict vigil to be maintained. The Administrator further directed Principal Secretary (Health) Arun Kumar Gupta to hold regular meetings with the chiefs of three medical institutions namely PGIMER, GMCH-32 and GMSH-16 and to monitor the treatment being provided to the corona patients.
PEOPLE REQUEST ADVISER TO SEND B’DAY CAKES
A day after the video of a senior citizen getting birthday surprise from Panchkula Police went viral, the UT Adviser Manoj Parida was flooded with requests on his Twitter handle related to sending birthday cakes to certain people.
Responding to one Twitter user, Parida said, “They (People) are not asking opening cake shops, they want me to send police with cakes to their friends for birthday.”
