Two brothers injured as families fight over petty issue

Two brothers were injured during a fight over an issue of returning a utensil in southeast Delhi’s Jamia Nagar area on Saturday night. Police said they have arrested two persons in connection with the incident.

According to R P Meena, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Southeast district, on Saturday at 10.26 pm, police received information regarding the incident.

“After reaching the spot, it was found that the injured persons were shifted to Holy Family hospital. During enquiry, it was revealed that there was a quarrel had erupted between the families of Sirajuddin, a resident of Jhuggi Noor Nagar, and Khurshid, a resident of Azmal Bagh,” said the DCP.

“When police reached the hospital, Khurshid and his brother Shahid were found admitted there with head injuries. Khurshid told police that he had sent his brothers Shahid and Arshad to bring a ‘patila’ from one Sirajuddin, but Sirajuddin did not give it and started misbehaving with them,” said the DCP.

“Later, he also went to the house of Sirajuddin. Meanwhile, Sirajuddin and his sons Ashraf, Asad and Abdul attacked them. Khurshid saw a firearm in the hands of Ashraf. He caught the hand and neck of Ashraf,” said the DCP.

“In the meantime, Ashraf opened fire, following which Khurshid started bleeding from his head. Accused persons then fled the spot while Khurshid, along with his brother Shahid, was rushed to Holy Family hospital,” said the DCP.
