East Coast Railway (ECoR) General Manager Vidya Bhushan laid the foundation-stone for construction of a Rail Heritage Museum at Chandrasekharpur here on Wednesday. The aim to establish the museum is to preserve the old railway equipments, to showcase the rich history of organisation in this region, to enlighten the public about railways and its achievements and to boost tourism.
Efforts would be made to preserve the long and vibrant and rich history of Indian Railways as a whole and ECoR in particular. Old equipments, instruments, technology devices and models would also be preserved in the museum through an impressive display of artefacts, models and photographs.
In the indoor section, various documents, old manuals, railway maps, equipment, and photographs from early days of Railways in India are to be put on display. The outdoor section of the museum would provide old steam locomotives, coaches, wagons, signal systems and many more.
