State Covid cases cross 1-L mark

The Covid-19 cases in the State crossed the one- lakh mark to reach 1,00,934 after 3,014 new positive cases were detected from 29 districts on Sunday.

The death toll also rose to 482 with 12 more patients succumbing to the disease, the Health and Family Welfare Department said.

While four deaths were reported from Ganjam district, Khordha (Bhubaneswar), Cuttack, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Puri, Rayagada, Sundargarh and Jajpur districts reported one each.

The deceased in Ganjam included a 35-year-old man, a 30-year-old man, a 65 year-old woman and a 50-year-old man.

The other deceased included a 53-year-old man of Bhubaneswar, a 63-year-old man of Cuttack district, a 59-year-old man of Malkangiri, a 62-year-old man of Nabarangpur, a 48-year-old man of Puri, a 70-year-old man of Rayagada, a 59-year-old man of Sundargarh and a 62-year-old woman of Jajpur.

Out of the 3,014 new positive cases, 1,868 were detected from quarantine centres while the rest 1,146 were local contacts.

Among the districts, Khordha reported the highest 684 cases followed by Cuttack 337, Mayurbhanj 292, Ganjam 216, Baleswar 138, Bargarh 124, Koraput 120, Puri 118, Rayagada 104, Sambalpur 102, Sundargarh 91, Keonjhar 68, Jagatsinghpur 66, Kandhamal 60, Dhenkanal and Malkangiri 49 each, Jharsuguda 45, Kendrapada and Subarnapur 44 each, Bhadrak and Kalahandi 40 each, Jajpur and Nabarangpur 38 each, Balangir 35, Nayagarh 29, Angul 25, Gajapati nine, Nuapada seven and Deogarh two, the Information and Public Relations Department said.

However, another 2,519 patients recovered on Sunday in the State, taking the total recoveries to 73,233.

The highest 419 recovered in Khordha, followed by Ganjam 216, Puri 216, Puri 210, Rayagada 205, Koraput 169, Mayurbhanj 150, Cuttack 129, Baleswar 100, Nayagarh 95, Sambalpur 85, Malkangiri 84, Bhadrak 77, Dhenkanal 76, Nabarangpur 58, Kandhamal 48, Balangir 45, Sundargarh 42, Gajapati 40, Kendrapada 39, Jharsuguda 38, Subarnapur 33, Nuapada 28 , Jagatsinghpur 27, Bargarh 25, Kalahandi 19,  Jajpur 12, Deogarh seven, Boudh four and Angul 1.
