Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said on Wednesday that in a democratic country, the State Election Commission (SEC) plays a key role in holding elections for local bodies and three-tier Panchayat Raj institutions.

The SEC has for the last 20 years fulfilled its commitments with responsibility.

Baghel was addressing the public dedication ceremony of new office building of SEC, Chhattisgarh, at North Block Sector-19, Nava Raipur, Atal Nagar through video-conferencing from his official residence cum office, said an official statement.

He greeted SE Commissioner Thakur Ramsingh, officials and employees for the all facility building. He hoped that it would provide enough space for smooth functioning.
