The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has procured 14,000 special Nitrile gloves to ensure the safety of its medical staff and sanitation workers who are working relentlessly to prevent the spread of Coronavirus. The civic body has also decided to use jetting machines for sanitising public places.
A senior SDMC official said that n each zone 3500 gloves will be distributed to the staff. According to health officials, these gloves are very useful and long lasting; each glove will be last for 15 days. It has to be washed with soap daily.
The official said that disposable nitrile rubber gloves are waterproof, greaseproof, oil proof and most importantly, chemical resistant to a range of common chemicals and substances. These gloves are used by medical professionals as it has excellent chemical resistance and puncture strength and dexterous strength, he said.
To further intensify the cleaning and sanitation drives, SDMC has also decided to use jetting machines for sprinkling sanitizers in public areas using sodium hypo-Chloride solutions and bleaching solutions for disinfecting public places.
Apart from this, 15 tankers are continually operating and spraying disinfectants mainly near food distribution centers, public areas, surrounding areas of quarantined houses across four zones. All the sanitization drives are being closely monitored by the area councillor.
SDMC is also ensuring that public toilets are being sanitized with bleaching solution daily to control community spread of coronavirus.
Apart from above mentioned gloves, SDMC is also providing 2000 mask to each zone in addition to already supplied.
