Rs 15 lakh Government aid for 2 scribes’ kin

The State Government has sanctioned ex-gratia of Rs 15 lakh each for the families of two following journalists who recently died of Covid-19, informed Government Media Advisor Manas Mangaraj on Thursday.

Priyadarshi Patnaik of Hinjili in Ganjam district was the first journalist, who died of the deadly disease while undergoing treatment at a Covid Hospital on July 11 in Bhubaneswar.

Next day, K CH Ratnam of Gajapati district lost his life to the virus. He also died under treatment at a Covid Hospital in Bhubaneswar.

As per media reports, three journalists have died of coronavirus in the State so far. On July 14, scribe Simanchal Panda of Ganjam district succumbed to the virus. He was working with a weekly Odia magazine.
