Thursday, 30 April 2020 | PNS | BHUBANESWAR

People of Begunia in Khordha district suspect that local police have a nexus with the cattle mafia, for which rescued cattle are missing and illegal transportation of cattle is going on even during the Covid-19 lockdown period.

According to information, the Begunia Youth Club members had rescued eight heads of cattle on April 14 from mafia. On April 16, some mafia accompanied by Constable Sushant took two of the cattle from them. On April 17, the Begunia PS IIC took five cows and told the club members that they would be kept at the Goshala at Sijua. However, later it was noticed from Goshala records that only three of the cattle were handed over to the Goshala.

Local people have wanted to know where did the two heads of cow go? Suspecting that police have nexus with cattle mafia, they have demanded intervention of higher authorities into the matter.
