Palamu police bust robbery case in 8 days, 4 held, silver, cash recovered

A daylight robbery in a jeweller’s shop on September 20 in Daltonganj market, which had caused immense embarrassment to police here has been cracked in eight days.

SP Palamu Sanjeev Kumar said here in a press conference on Tuesday that  four robbers have been caught and jailed and police have recovered one kilogram of silver and cash worth 2.87 lakh besides the bike used in the commission of crime and one cell phone.

The SP said the five robbers had decamped with booty like 5 Kgs of silver and 100 grams of gold. They were five in numbers Sanjeev Kumar added who had done enough recce for this crime on Sunday.

He said an SIT was formed and Sandip Kumar Gupta was made its  chief who had with him other police officers like Sunit Kumar, A K Mahatha and R K Ravi and the case got busted in 8 days.

The SP had put the cracking job to three police stations’ officials namely Town, Sadar and Chainpur.

Sources said the daylight robbery had seen jewellers up in arms here as they sat on silent dharna for two days in the street demanding arrest of the robbers.

Sandip Kr Gupta said every passing day was getting heavier for the SIT as our SP was monitoring the case quite intensely on day to day basis and this was further putting us under tremendous pressure but SIT went its investigation the coolest way and the result of which is 4 arrests,& recovery of silver, cash, bike and cell phone.

SP said the mastermind of this robbery  Ramesh Ram is absconding but his days are numbered as four of his 9 member gang are in judicial remand now.

The four accused caught and jailed are Anil Ram, Monu Soni, Rajinder Soni and Golu Soni who come from Bihar’s Aurangabad district.

The SP said police have been asked to curb and contain any urban crime with all toughness and professionalism.
