The Delhi Women and Child Development Minister Rajendra Pal Gautam has directed officials to start the process of vaccination and immunization with the help of Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) and Anganwadi workers while taking all necessary precautions.
The direction came in a review meeting chaired by the minister on Sunday. The meeting was attended by the senior officers of the Department of Women and Child Development (DWCD) and Department of Health (DOH) of the Delhi Government.
After the meeting, the Minister said, in view of COVID-19, it is essential to protect yourself and others around you, as the care and precaution is the utmost priority but child immunization program is a necessity to keep the future of children healthy and safe.
“The ongoing activity of immunization was disrupted due to Covid-19 lockdown but after the partial unlock the immunization has been considered an essential aspect for which a decision has been taken to restore the facilities to children in the best possible manner,” he said.
Gautam further said that the department through its 10,000 Anganwadi Centres in capital plays an important role in getting the children enrolled in anganwadi centers immunized. “This is done by organising immunization camps in each center every month in coordination with the health department, he said.
The immunization camp will be organized once a month at each Anganwadi center. The Anganwadi Worker and Anganwadi Helpers will help Auxiliary Nurse Midwives and ASHA shall ensure the immunization of each child in their respective area.
