Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that the new education policy declared by the Centre will prove to be a milestone in the field of education in the country. Madhya Pradesh should take the lead in its implementation. All its provisions should be implemented promptly according to the circumstances in the state.
The provision of imparting vocational education from Class VI in the State will be implemented as soon as possible so that students not only develop their academic knowledge but also develop their skills. Yoga will also be included in the school curriculum along with music, dance, philosophy and art.
Chouhan was holding a meeting through video conferencing from Chirayu Hospital regarding the activities of the Education Department in the state and the actions to be taken in the state in context to the new education policy. Minister of State for School Education (Independent Charge) Inder Singh Parmar attended the meeting from Shajapur through video conferencing.
Commissioner Public Instruction Jaishree Kiyawat, Commissioner Rajya Shiksha Kendra Lokesh Kumar Jatav, Deputy Secretary Anubha Shrivastava, Pramod Singh and K.K. Dwivedi were present at the meeting.
Chief Minister Chouhan said that the Education Minister should set up a team to implement the provisions of the new education policy in Madhya Pradesh with promptness, to prepare a framework for action in this regard. Vocational education and skill development have to be promoted in the State, so that the child acquires skills in his/her field of interest from the beginning and to help them get a good livelihood in future.
Inclusion of Karmayoga and moral education in curriculum
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that special importance should be given to Yoga and moral education in school curriculum under the new education policy. Along with this, subjects like music, philosophy, art, dance, etc. will also be part of the syllabus.
Chouhan said that high quality schools will be developed in clusters of large number of villages in the state. Action must be ensured in this regard. Principal Secretary School Education informed that a plan is being made to develop 10,000 such schools in the state.
Chief Minister Chouhan said that private schools will not be able to charge students other than tuition fees due to Corona crisis. He directed that the Education department should ensure that even if a parent is not able to pay the fees of the child, his/her name should not be removed from the school under any circumstances. In order to solve the problems of private schools during Corona crisis, Chief Minister Chouhan told the School Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar to resolve the matter by holding discussion with the school managements and parents.
On digital education system during Covid-19 period in the state, the Chief Minister said that students of pre-primary of the State will also be imparted digital education, which will be
provided for 3 days every week and 30 minutes daily will be fixed. Apart from this, digital education will be imparted 5 days a week in Classes 1st to VIIIth and six days a week in high schools and higher secondary schools.
The Chief Minister instructed the Education Department to prepare a framework for distribution of laptops to students, who have performed excellent in Class XIIth in the state. Principal Secretary School Education informed that an amount of about Rs 40 crore will be spent on this work.
