Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank’ inaugurated an international webinar on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, organized by the KIIT University on August 28.
The inaugural session of the three-day webinar was also graced by KIIT and KISS founder and Kandhamal MP Dr Achyuta Samanta, Chairman, AICTE Prof Anil D Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, UGC, Prof DP Singh, CEO, NITI Aayog Amitabh Kant, secretary-general, AIU Dr Pankaj Mittal, Chancellor, KIIT, Prof Ved Prakash, Vice-Chancellor, KIIT, Prof Hrushikesha Mohanty; VC, Central Tribal University Prof TV Kattimani and Pro-VC, KIIT, Prof Sasmita Samanta.
This was the first of its kind meet on the NEP 2020, which concluded on Sunday, brought 30,000 students, Vice-Chancellors, policymakers and intellectuals from 50 countries on a common platform. More than 100 research papers were received.
Nishank said, “The NEP 2020 is a student-centric policy and reflects dreams and aspirations of the people."
Terming NEP 2020 as a “game changing policy”, Prof Sahasrabudhe suggested a single data system for institutions for regulatory reporting and accreditations. Prof DP Singh hoped the NEP would promote integrated inclusive research solutions to human problems.
The NEP would enable the country to reap the demographic dividend and achieve SDG 2030 goals, said Amitabh Kant. The NEP provides a big push to vocational education, said Prof Ved Praksh while Dr Mittal termed it as democratic, student-centric and forward-looking. Prof Kattimani, who was a part of the drafting committee of NEP, spoke about the importance of mother tongue and skill education.
