The renowned critic and writer Ram Vilas Sharma was paid tribute by Madhya Pradesh Sahitya Academy on Saturday. On this occasion, Director Culture Aditi Kumar Tripathi recalling Sharma, said that the top critic of the twentieth century.
The status of contemporary criticism is still remembered in the name of Ram Vilas Sharma, its direction and importance of literature has been discussed by the young and famous contemporary creators and critics of the state and country.
Ram Vilas Sharma was an eminent progressive literary critic, linguist, poet and thinker. He was born in Unchgaon Sani, Unnao District, Uttar Pradesh. He came into the limelight as a critic in 1939 with his scholarly paper on Suryakant Tripathi 'Nirala', presented at a session of Hindi Sahitya Sammelan. The Sahitya Academy has been only one to discuss contemporary criticism.Assistant Director H.R. Ahirwar, while paying floral tribute, said that Ram Vilas Sharma has given a huge contribution in Hindi language.
On this occasion, Director of Punjab Sahitya Academy, Nityanand Shrivastava, Director of Bhojpuri Sahitya Academy, P.K. Jha and Director of Natya Vidyalaya Alok Chatterjee were also present. Deepak Kumar Gupta, Programme Officer thanked all the dignitaries on presence of senior staff and officers of Sahitya Academy and other academies.
