A minor was found dead with his head smashed on Saturday in northeast Delhi's Gokalpuri area.
Police said that the minor was drug addict and used to remain out of his house for several days.
The victim has been identified as Ishu (10), a resident of Ashok Vihar, Loni.
According to Ved Prakash Surya, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Northeast district, police received a police control room (PCR) call on Saturday at 8.46 AM wherein it was mentioned that a body of a 10 to 12 year-old boy was lying at H Block, Ganga Vihar.
"Acting on the call a police team reached the spot and found the body was lying in garbage and the boy face was smashed with heavy stone," said the DCP.
"Later, the victim was identified as Ishu by his brother Nanhe. Nanhe told police that his brother was drug addict and use to roam around with the boys of Gokalpuri," said the DCP.
"The body was send to the mortuary. During initial investigation it was revealed that the boy used to roam in the area and remain out of his house for many days. Nanhe said that he was absconding from past seven days," said the DCP adding that a case has been registered and investigation is in progress.
