Delhi Women and Child Development Minister Rajendra Pal Gautam visited several juvenile observational homes across Delhi to take a stock of all the appropriate precautions being taken to tackle coronavirus. Notably, Union Government and Delhi Government issued several guidelines and precautions which must be taken to prevent the transmission of coronavirus
Gautam ordered an immediate ban on the visiting of family members in the juvenile homes. The residents will be able to contact their families twice a week by phone, which earlier used to happen only once.
Special instructions were given to the authorities that there should be minimum visitors in the home and proper hygiene and cleanliness should be the topmost priority.
“The only way to avoid corona is to preventing its transmission completely. Keeping this in view, i have ordered that there should be strict control on the number of people visiting the homes. Nobody should enter the homes without sanitizing their hands which is why we are making sure that sanitizer is available right at the gate. The health of all children and youth living here will be given priority. The measures have been taken in the light of their health,” said Gautam
There are currently 29 youth in the Observation Homes at Delhi Gate with a capacity of 75 people, out of which 6 were released on bail.
Similarly, the Observation Home, with a capacity of 100 youth, has 103 residents, of whom 24 are released on bail and 2 will be released by evening.
There are 65 youths in the 50-capacity Place for Safety Majnu Ka Tila, of which 9 were granted bail. SPYM located at Sewa Kutir where there are 40 youths with 10 released on bail.
