The entry of the public has been restricted in the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) on Monday by municipal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey after one of the home guards posted at the entry gate of the corporation was found Covid-19 positive. Since the public entry was resumed in the corporation after the lockdown, some home guards have been posted at one of the entry gates of the corporation. They manage and facilitate the entry of people in campus only after their thermal screening. This is the third case of Covid-19 in MCD this month as a municipal health inspector was found positive on August 5 and subsequently, a senior official was found positive on August 18. While talking to The Pioneer, Pandey informed that a home guard had tested positive for Covid-19 on Sunday. The whole campus of the municipal corporation was sanitised and as a precautionary measure to curb Covid-19 contagion, the entry of the public has also been restricted on Monday in MCD, said Pandey. He said that though the corporation will remain open for the officials and employees, the work like property tax submission or issuing birth and death certificates will be resumed from Tuesday. He also stated that the list of the home guards that were in close proximity to the infected home guard has been prepared and they would be quarantined accordingly. He also informed that no employee of MCD was home quarantined as they were not in direct contact with the patient.
