Irrfan Khan was a gem of a person. His demise is a lost for the world whose art crossed all the boundaries of countires and relegion," said playwright and art director Jayant Deshmukh.
Jayant was speaking on online interaction series Journey of Dreams, organised by KITE Studio of Karmyogi theatre. He started off his conversation with remembering Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan.
Irrfan died on Wednesday at the age of 54. Jayant shared his experience working with him in Bandit Queen and Maqbool and friendship.
During conversation with Nitish Saair, Deshmukh relived memories of his childhood and working in Rangmandal, Bharat Bhawan. He told that during his early days, he used to work from 6 am to 9 pm.
He was blessed to have worked in Rangmandal and got the opportunity to observe closely the work style of many legends of the field such as B.V Karanth, Habeeb Tanveer, Peter Brook, Swaminathan, who played the most important role in his success in films and Mumbai.
He further added that his first love will always be theatre and no matter what he cannot keep himself away from theatre for too long. He answered the questions asked by many youngsters regarding direction and art direction, and said that in art direction script, time, costume colours, location and lights play the most important role & if you want to pursue art direction then you must work on your observation skills and study color pallet.
Moving further he said, that today young generation is very energetic, passionate, skillful but lacks in understanding. They need to read a lot whether books or from Google and accept things. To agree or to disagree anything, first thing which is important is that you should know about it completely. He advised the young generation that they should start watching works of other directors as well, in order to expand their vision and art.
