Young woman dies as truck hits scooty 

Jharsuguda: A young woman was killed on the spot when the scooter she was riding was hit by a truck at Gumadera under the Belpahar police station on Wednesday morning. The victim was identified as Shriya Aich (22) of Gumadera TRL Colony. Irate locals blocked the road demanding action against rash driving and separate roads for goods vehicles. The truck driver fled after the accident leaving his vehicle behind.

BJP demands CBI probe into Pari case

Balangir: Bharatiya Janata Party members led by Ananta Das on Wednesday staged a demonstration before the Collectorate here demanding handing over the sensational Pari rape and murder case to the CBI for investigation. “Around 5,000 children are also missing in the State and their whereabouts are not known yet,” said Ananta Das. The BJP activists raised slogans against the BJD Government and Minister Arun Sahoo, whose effigy was burnt by them.

Clerk held taking bribe in Nuapada

Nuapada: The Vigilance police arrested a Junior Clerk of the Khariar Sub-Registrar office in Nuapada district for accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000. Sanjay Kumar had demanded the bribe from one Parameswar Barik of Khariar to register a patch of land in favour of his spouse.

Baleswar nursing home raided

Baleswar: The Health Department on Monday after raiding the Matru Shakti nursing home here sealed its ultrasound unit. Although the exact reason of sealing of the unit was not told to the media, yet Chief District  Medical Officer Dulalsen Jagdeo said that there were some shortcomings in the documentation part of the unit
