Extending his support to the farmers protesting against the three agriculture laws, former Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Sunday lashed out at his successor Manohar Lal for his remarks that the state’s farmers have not participated in the protest.Hooda while talking to the mediapersons in New Delhi warned that if farmers’ problems are not resolved, a bigger movement will be undertaken.A day before, CM Manohar Lal had alleged that some political parties and organisations are sponsoring the farmers’ protest against the Centre’s new farm laws. He had also claimed that Haryana’s farmers have not participated in the ongoing protest.
Dismissing Manohar Lal’s claim, Hooda, who is leader of opposition in the state said that the farmers of Haryana have been agitating against the three agricultural laws for many months and their demands are justified.
The remarks by the Chief Minister have hurt the farmer’s pride and sentiments. The ignorance of Haryana CM is shocking and disturbing, the senior Congress leader said.Continuing his tirade against the Haryana Government, Hooda asked, “If the farmers of Haryana are not part of the stir, then who did the government lathi-charge in Pipli? Who are the people who were detained by the Haryana Police before their Delhi march and who are those people against whom the Haryana Government has filed cases?”
The leader of opposition in the Haryana Assembly further said that the government should know that the farmers of Haryana and Punjab have stood shoulder to shoulder in this movement. They are also getting support from farmers of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and other states. The entire nation now stands with the farmers and will fight till the government concedes to their genuine demands, he added.
Till now, the entire agitation of the farmers has been peaceful. But the Haryana Government’s role in the entire movement has been negative. The government’s job is to make roads but this government blocked roads and dug roads to stop the farmers, he said.
WITHDRAW FIR AND RELEASE ARRESTED FARMERS: SELJA
President, Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee Kumari Selja has demanded the BJP-JJP government to immediately withdraw the FIR registered against more than ten thousand farmers in Haryana and asked the government to immediately release the arrested farmers.
Selja termed the points mentioned by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in ‘Mann Ki Baat’ about anti-agricultural laws, as hollow.
She said that the condition laid by the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, for talks with the farmers, clearly shows that the intention of BJP government at the Centre is not good.
The Congress leader said that the government had earlier committed heavy atrocities on the farmers agitating against the agricultural laws and now FIR has been lodged against the same farmers. The BJP government at the Center and the BJP-JJP government of the state are bent on completely crushing the farmers, she added.
Selja further said that only hollow statements have been made by the Prime Minister in the 'Mann Ki Baat'. The Prime Minister has only insulted the farmers in his address. He is only concerned about the interest of his capitalist friends. In order to benefit his friends, the Prime Minister has sacrificed the interests of farmers through black anti-agricultural laws, she alleged.
