To gather digital evidence and use cyber investigative techniques, an RPF Cyber Cell of the ECoR was inaugurated by General Manager Vidya Bhushan on Thursday.
The cell, equipped with high-end hardware and software, is managed by highly trained RPF personnel.
The cyber cell would certainly help in better detection and prosecution of increasing white collar crimes that involve hi-tech technologies and IT systems, said the GM.
It would be useful in detection of unscrupulous persons cornering reserved berths in advance, by passing the process of reservation using unauthorised software/applications. Besides, it would help in tracking of criminals.
The data on crimes against women and children, narcotics, smuggling of forest products in railway premises would be shared with other law enforcement agencies too.
