DRDO chairman meets CM Rawat

Monday, 31 August 2020 | PNS | Dehradun

The chairman of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) G Satheesh Reddy met Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat at his residence here on Sunday.

The DRDO chairman and the chief minister discussed scope for work in the defence sector in Uttarakhand.  It was agreed that the youth of the state will now be able to obtain training in the DRDO.

Further the engineering students will be able to receive internships at the DRDO’s Instruments Research and Development Establishment (IRDE) in Dehradun and other laboratories of the organisation.

This visit of the DRDO chairman came in the wake of the recent announcement by the Government of India which has decided to stop the import of 101 different defence equipment items. Considering this, Reddy and Rawat discussed the possibilities for encouraging industries related to the defence sector in Uttarakhand.

The duo also discussed connecting industries and agriculture in the border areas of Uttarakhand to the DRDO laboratory. The CM’s industrial advisor KS Panwar, DRDO chairman’s technology advisor Sanjeev Joshi were also among those present during the meeting between Reddy and Rawat.
