Dr Ajay Kumar Verma, Dean, Agriculture College and Research Centre Marra (Patan) in Durg in Chhattisgarh, was appointed Office-on-Special Duty (OSD) on Wednesday to oversee the establishment of the proposed Mahatma Gandhi Horticulture and Forestry University.
The appointment order was issued by Chhattisgarh's Agriculture Development and Farmers’ Welfare and Bio-Technology Department.
Apart from the present job, he would look into the responsibility of establishment of the university, an official press release said.
According to an order issued from the Secretariat (Mahanadi Bhavan), till the appointment of a new Vice Chancellor for the Mahatma Gandhi Horticulture and Forestry University, Dr Ajay Verma would remain the OSD.
The Chhattisgarh government has passed a Bill to set up the first Horticulture and Forestry University in the state. Different Horticulture Colleges will be opened in the districts.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has already announced the opening of Horticulture College at Jashpur.
