State DGP MV Rao has asked his SSPs and SPs to take care of the medical needs of the senior citizens who live alone, their relatives are far away or stranded in lockdown and these seniors want their medicines or visit doctor or hospital but can’t do it for themselves because of fragility of health or for want of facilities.

Rao asks his district chiefs of police to do this for such needy senior citizens by some intelligent, competent, experienced and soft spoken police officials who understand as to how to interact with such senior citizens in need of medical assistance.

A letter to this effect of DGP’s order has been communicated to SSPs and SPs under the signature of ADG police law and order. The cops are to do multiple jobs for the senior citizens like attending their call with compassion, bringing in medicines for them on their medical prescriptions, arranging ambulance or hiring private ambulance, reaching them to doctor or hospital etc.

Medicines will be bought and reached senior citizens by cops after cash payment for medicines only by the senior citizen. Similarly bill of private ambulance if hired by cops on behalf of senior citizen will be paid by the Sr citizen. 108 ambulance will be arranged by cops etc.

Police sources said when doctors are failing to diagnose a person asymptomatic becoming Covid positive in a week or so how come a police man will be able to detect and discover the senior citizen is all free of this malaise.

DGP order asks to call Covid control room then if a cop out to help senior citizen finds something too bad with the senior citizen.

DGP has ordered police chiefs of Ranchi, Bokaro, Jamshedpur, Dhanbad to keep two vehicles as standby for meeting medical needs of senior citizens while for other districts namely Palamu, Garhwa Latehar, Lohardaga etc DGP has ordered to keep one vehicle reserved at the disposal of police control room. SP Palamu Ajay Linda said, “We have received the order of DGP. Our control room is in action. SDPOs have been asked to brief their under officers about this order of DGP and also how to go about helping the senior citizens.”

One SDPO Sandip Kumar Gupta said “ Under order of Linda who asked us to apprise officials of control room here of the text of DGP M V Rao I interacted and interfaced with the police control room officials and asked them to provide all out help to the needy senior citizens.”
