Covid-19 count continues to increase in Uttarakhand

Amid threat posed by the entry of the new strain of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) in the country, the contagion of the virus is continuing its upward trend in Uttarakhand.

On Wednesday the State Health department reported 449 new cases of the pandemic which increased the tally of the disease to 90,616 in the State. The department also reported the death of nine patients from the disease after which the death toll increased to 1504 in the State. The authorities discharged 724 patients from different hospitals of the State on Wednesday after their recovery. A total of 82,967 patients have so far recovered from the disease in the State. The recovery percentage from the disease is at 91.56 and the sample positivity rate is at 5.13 per cent.

Five patients of Covid-19 were reported dead at Sushila Tiwari Government hospital Haldwani on Wednesday. One patient each succumbed to the disease at AIIMS Rishikesh, Himalayan Hospital Dehradun, Synergy Hospital Dehradun and Mahant Indiresh Hospital Dehradun on Wednesday.

Out of the 724 patients discharged on Wednesday, 231 belonged to Dehradun, 139 from Nainital and 101 from Uttarkashi.

The authorities reported 157 fresh cases of the disease from Dehradun, 108 from Nainital, 38 each from Haridwar and Pithoragarh, 22 from Udham Singh Nagar, 17 from Almora, 14 from Uttarkashi, 11 each from Chamoli and Champawat, nine from Pauri, eight each from Rudraprayag, Bageshwar and Tehri on Wednesday.

Uttarakhand now has 4,963 active cases of the disease. Dehradun is at continuing to remain at top of the table of active cases with 1,556 cases while with 956 active cases Nainital is at second spot. Pithoragarh is now at third position with 431 active cases, Haridwar has 404 active cases, Uttarkashi 277, Tehri 263, Pauri 221, Almora 189, Udham Singh Nagar 160, Bageshwar 154, Chamoli 151 and Champawat 109 active cases of the disease. With 92 active cases of Covid-19, Rudraprayag is now at the bottom of the table of active cases of Covid-19.
