Contagion breaks all records in week ending August 29

The contagion of Covid -19 is continuing to cause more deaths and is becoming more widespread with each passing day. The week ending August 29 which is the 24th week ever since the first case of the disease was reported in Uttarakhand on March 15, witnessed highest cases of the disease and most deaths in a week.

 In this week (August 23 to August 29) the state health department reported a whopping 4005 cases of the disease which breaks the highest weekly record witnessed a week before by a huge margin. The 24th week reported 1400 more cases as compared with the previous week. The week ending this Sunday also saw 55 deaths which is also a record. In the 23rd week 44 deaths were reported. The week ending August 29 also witnessed 2503 recoveries which is also the highest for a week. In this week 67385 tests were conducted in different laboratories of the state which incidentally is highest for a week. The founder of the Social Development for Communities Foundation, Uttarakhand Anoop Nautiyal said that an analysis of the data shows that the major concern is the fact that new cases and deaths are increasing much faster than that of recoveries.
