As the State Assembly’s Monsoon Session began on Tuesday, Opposition members demanded a discussion in the House on the alleged negligence being done to non-Covid-19 patients in hospitals across the State.
Raising the issue during the afternoon hours, Congress member Suresh Routray said more than 400 people have already died due to lack of treatment in Government hospitals.
“Non-Covid patients are not being entertained in hospitals. The number of dead bodies coming to the Satyanagar crematorium is so high that seven to eight bodies are lying for the next day. The Government should inform the House what steps it has taken to resolve the matter,” Routray said, urging Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro to direct the Government in this regard.
BJP member Jayanarayan Mishra supported Routray in the issue.
He said non-Covid patients belonging to poor and middle-class families are suffering a lot. They are returning home and dying without getting treatment in Government hospitals.
“Despite our repeated demands, the State Government has not taken steps to resolve the issue.
People are suffering a lot. Kindly direct the Government to provide treatment to all non-Covid patients in all hospitals and inform the House about steps being taken by it,” Mishra urged the Speaker.
