The carpet industry of Bhadohi will be expanding its global reach further with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurating a Carpet Expo Mart in Bhadohi on Thursday.
Besides, the chief minister will also dedicate to people 10 development projects and lay the foundation stones of five projects.
The Bhadohi carpet industry is also included in the ambitious One District One Project (ODOP) scheme of the Yogi government and the mart would work as the common facilitation centre for all local stakeholders.
“At present the annual export of carpets amounts to Rs 8,000 crore and the new mart will also help in increasing exports. Besides providing all types of carpets to buyers under one roof, the mart will help carpet makers and sellers in exploring new markets and finding new buyers,” Additional Chief Secretary (MSME) Navneet Sehgal said.
The three-storeyed mart consists of two buildings across a sprawling 7,000 square feet area and has 94 shops in the shopping area and an exhibition hall. While there are 30 shops on the ground floor, the first floor has 31 and the second floor 33.
